LZPU-led Vocational Standard Recognized by China & Indonesia

From News Center (Text and Photos by Li Dongheng, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering) Recently, the teaching standard for the vocational undergraduate major in Mechatronic Engineering, developed under the leadership of LZPU, received dual certification from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia and the National Mechanical Vocational Education Steering Committee of China. Relying on the dual-degree cooperation between the two countries, it will be officially incorporated into Indonesia's national vocational education system and become the first Chinese vocational undergraduate teaching standard to receive certification in Indonesia.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of Indonesia, dual-degree programs offered jointly by domestic and overseas institutions must ensure that at least 75% of their curriculum aligns with that of standard programs. Because industrial development in Indonesia is less advanced than in China, local vocational schools face challenges in designing curricula and developing talent that meet the job competency requirements of Chinese-funded enterprises operating in Indonesia. As a result, the quality of talent cultivation does not meet the needs of these enterprises. To address this challenge, in September 2024, with the consent of the Joint Conference of Presidents of Indonesian national polytechnic institutes and leveraging the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance, LZPU led 27 Chinese vocational schools and eight Indonesian pilot national polytechnic schools to jointly launch the Indonesia-China Vocational Education Enhancement Program (ICVEEP). Under the principle of "joint construction and sharing", and following the sequence of "teacher training, professional research, curriculum development, standard formulation, resource building, pilot implementation, and application promotion", the ICVEEP Program has been launched using manufacturing-related majors as the pilot. In September this year, the teaching standards for the three-year Mechatronics program and 28 course standards were completed, earning dual certification from both the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia and the National Mechanical Vocational Education Steering Committee of China. Certificates were issued by both Chinese and Indonesian authorities to the participating institutions. Building on this foundation, LZPU has continued to lead the formulation of teaching standards for the four-year Mechatronic Engineering Technology major, which have been completed and received dual certification from authoritative agencies of both countries. This has laid a solid foundation for advancing China-Indonesia joint education and steadily improving the quality of talent cultivation.

Currently, the teams of Chinese and Indonesian teachers are dedicated to developing textbooks and online courses to support the widespread adoption of relevant teaching standards in Indonesia.
