At that moment, I truly felt that Chinese teachers are so warm-hearted.” On August 22, 2025, at the internship launch ceremony for the first batch of students in the China-Indonesia "1+1+1" school-enterprise joint training program, Indonesian student Galuh spoke slowly but clearly in Chinese, recalling his first days at LiuZhou Polytechnic University. His words brought tears to the eyes of many fellow students and attending teachers.
Wei Linhua, Director of the International Exchange Department at LiuZhou Polytechnic University, Wang Fuchun, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Xu Zijian, HR Manager of NVT Power, and other representatives attended the internship launch ceremony. Together with the Indonesian students, they reflected on the past year of study through videos and conversations. Teachers from LiuZhou Polytechnic University who had once taught the Indonesian cohort recorded video messages, expressing their care and best wishes. As familiar faces appeared on the screen, tears welled up in the students' eyes, yet they could not bring themselves to wipe them away. One story after another brought bursts of laughter to the hall, but the tears continued to flow. The ceremony concluded with all the Indonesian students singing Chinese songs in unison—a moving moment that not only expressed their hopes for the future but also conveyed heartfelt nostalgia for their days of study in China.
A year ago, after completing their freshman year in Indonesia, Galuh and 13 other students from Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya (POLSRI) and Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung (POLMAN) embarked on their journey to China. "I had never been abroad before. I’m grateful to my friends and classmates—this experience has been truly invaluable,” recalled Rio from POLSRI, choked with emotion as he reflected on his year at LiuZhou Polytechnic University. During their stay in Liuzhou, the 14 Indonesian students underwent training in the "Chinese language + Mechatronics" program. Due to the technological gap between the manufacturing industries of China and Indonesia, as well as the significant differences in curriculum design, the college offered three semesters of intensive courses, with a weekly workload of up to 30 class hours. Despite the rigorous schedule, all 14 students successfully passed their assessments. Two students won silver medals at the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition, and many are now able to communicate fluently in Chinese. Having achieved their learning goals, the students are now about to begin their internships at Gotion High-Tech Co., Ltd. (Liuzhou) and Dongguan NVT Technology Co., Ltd.
Since 2023, LiuZhou Polytechnic University has led member institutions of China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance (CITIEA) in jointly implementing the "1+1+1" academic education cooperation program. The first cohort enrolled 14 students, and thanks to the deep integration of industry and education, enrollment for the second cohort has surged to 103 students. The program has received strong recognition from Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, and its affiliated vocational institutions. It is reported that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology plans to include the program in its "Umbrella Project," providing Chinese language training scholarships for participating students to encourage the joint training program to cultivate highly skilled, Chinese-proficient, and globally-minded professionals for enterprises in both Indonesia and China, establishing a replicable and scalable model for deepening industry-education integration and vocational education cooperation between the two countries.
